In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, is given a high-profile job for which she is ill-suited, with tectonic implications for her marriage and political future. The producers convinced both American & British governments to allow them to use real environments as filming locations for the series, including the still recent US embassy (at Nine Elms) which opened in 2018.

The only unavailable location was Winfield House, the actual residence of the US ambassador. Although it is accurately described as occupying the largest plot of residential land (11 hectares) in London other than Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming purposes.

She also deals with her husband (Rufus Sewell), who is already a political star, and their unstable marriage

The Diplomat has everything you want in a great series…it has comedy, drama, excellent acting and writing, etc, etc. The series is about a diplomat (Keri Russell) who has a new job as ambassador to the United Kingdom after an international crisis occurs when an aircraft carrier is attacked.

I loved this series so much that I binged all eight episodes in one weekend

It was so good and so well received that has already received an early renewal for another season. I will definitely be looking forward to watching it and seeing where this series goes.
