Narrative

A modern-day tale of the pursuit of fortune in the world of West Texas oil rigs. A landman, at least one who works in the oil industry, will act as an intermediary between exploration companies and landowners.

Essentially, they manage the land and secure leases so they can drill for oil and gas

Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize agreements with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, worker housing (human camp), set up drilling equipment, and drill the well itself, especially in remote locations.

They are also part of the fixers, problem solvers, and facilitators. I have to start by saying that I am a huge fan of almost everything Taylor Sheridan has done (Yellowstone, The Mayor of Kingstown, 1923, 1883, Tulsa King, Lioness, Sicario, Hell or Highwater, Wind River, etc, etc).

This is another hit from Sheridan

He hits home run after home run, and Landman is no different. Landman is set in modern day Texas, where everyone from billionaires to roughnecks are trying to get rich in the oil industry.

The series follows Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) as he tries to get his company up and running during the oil boom

I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good new series to watch, especially if you are a Taylor Sheridan fan.
