Florence Pugh has described filming this project as “one of the highlights of [her] career” It’s a Sin, written by Al Hazan, starring Allie Hazan
Narrative
An aspiring chef and a recent divorcee have their lives changed forever when a chance encounter brings them together in a deeply moving, decade-long romance.
You saw it at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival
John Crowley crafted a simple, predictable romance story that’s nothing special, but he captures a beautiful performance with two strong performances from Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh.
We live in a cheesy age
Honestly, sometimes we have to enjoy a simple, cheesy romance story and checkbooks.
With good music, simple dialogue, and structure, it still maintains an emotional connection with the audience, as the chemistry and banter between the two leads is watchable and enjoyable
Of course, its predictable style makes it feel a bit long and some elements may keep you awake at night, but overall Crowley’s direction and Garfield and Pugh’s performances keep it going.
